It was quite a week, and I'm actually somewhat in shock that it's over. It went by fast. Really fast. CRAZY fast.

And it was awesome. We really clicked and had a lot of fun together both out in the world of museums, restaurants, and Cathedrals and in her hotel room (where we naturally watched a lot of Food Network and talked about the national debt.) There were some hitches. She got sick. I was sick most of the week (VERY sick for a couple days) there was a hotel snafu, an incident I won't mention here but that should help cement New York's reputation for disgusting perverts back in Grand Junction, and a snoring problem that never really got solved.

Those things happen.

But mostly we just had a lot of fun, got to know one another, and experienced a few moments of semi-magic, including a really nice Italian dinner at a restaurant we stumbled upon by accident.

I'm sad to see her go, and I'm not sure what's going to happen from here exactly. I like her a lot. I think she likes me. There are 2000 miles between us. There are two basic resolutions to the situation, which are that one (or both) of us moves a significant distance to a strange new town, or the relationship fizzles. Obviously I'd prefer the first scenario. I'm going to look into jobs out in Colorado. I could use a change of scenery for a time.

On a personal note even though I spent a LOT of money (a whole lot) and ended up being sick through most of the experience, this was an amazing experience for me. I haven't felt so present in my own life in, well, years. I hope I can use this energy and feeling of presence moving forward.

I could go on and on about the trip and about her (I like her a lot for a lot of reasons) but I find such recaps kind of boring. Instead I think I'll focus on figuring out whether a second trip can be scheduled in the relatively close future.
